Musings and moments of BloggerCon IV

I think I have the post, I started on Saturday evening completed. If I missed anyone, please let me know! Over the 219 and through the suburbs to… Chestnut Ridge Park we go!Â

My unofficial count of attendees…by blog affiliations.

All Things Jennifer, Brisket for Chucklehead, Byzantium Shores, Buffalo Pundit, Buffalo Geek, Red’s Basement, Punaro.com (two bloggers one blog), Buffalo Roots (two bloggers one blog), WNYMedia Buffalo Watchdog, In Da Buff, WNY Politics, Broadway Fillmore Alive, Speak Up WNY, and North Buffalo Journal and Review.

16 bloggers and family and friends throughout the afternoon. THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING. And for bringing a ridiculous amount of delicious food!

Check out my photos on the event over here at my Flickr page. Oh the danger I could do with a NICE BIG CAMERA! :) *I will be adding more to the mix shortly, I promise! And once I get them loaded at Snapfish, I will send a link to all who attended.*

I have to say, I really enjoyed myself. A few weeks back I was not excited about planning anything except getting my behind into a different apartment. LC Scotty and Kelly picked up some of my slack and for that I am appreciative. Thank you.

Our last BloggerCon had more than a handful of people at a baseball game, which was the first event that spouses/significant others/friends/family were really able to attend. And this weekend, we had children running around playing and two wee little infants in our midst! The idea being, bring the bloggers and the people who fill the bloggers life with fodder together under one picnic shelter. I loved it. Mind you, I am a happy hour girl as well, but meeting the spouses and children makes me smile and reminds me how much of a community we really are. I walked up to the shelter, late as always…not having a clue who all the people hanging out were. (I told Mark to introduce himself first in case I *should* know who some of the bloggers were! Not needed…) And within minutes, felt like at home, remembering familiar faces and placing names to the other bloggers.

Weird how that happens huh?

Instead of calling out bloggers that weren’t able to attend…I think I am going to challenge a few that were there to share blogfodder stories with you all.

Scott? Crockpot oatmeal is DYING to be told.

BuffaloGeek? I fully expect a Nutcracker post sometime around the hoilday.

And now for the pictures. (Not sure who wants what posted, so I am being conservative.)

Twas a communion of meat…

And an ABUNDANCE of Fruit Salad. You know the good marshmallowy good kind?

SpeakUpWNY had a picnic too. They thought they were being kind Buffalo citizens by spreading the joy of food. The joy of POUND CAKE and FRUIT DELIGHT.

Fruit delight sort of became the running joke of our picnic, as I’m SURE you read already! You see, Alan decided to be bold and brave and took a spoon to the FRUIT DELIGHT. Next thing I heard was something along the lines of…

OH MY GOD. (Spit, spit, cough…) What IS this? Fruit and MAYONNAISE?

And he actually removed the delight from his mouth and on to the pavillion ground. Scott took the dare and said something like “Meh” BUT he has NAVY stomach lining of steel. I was worried at first because I assumed he tried MY fruit salad and I surely did not want to be the joke of the picnic. Thankfully, I was for other reasons instead. ;)

So…of course, we I needed to doucment the ceremonial tossing of the FRUIT DELIGHT.

So where do we go from here?

BloggerCon V! Start talking Buffalo!

  1. I’ve said it in the past, so I’ll reiterate my idea – there are two great events coming up at the Central Terminal in the fall – the Buffalo Brewfest and Oktoberfest. Both will be a great time, will provide entertainment and space to chat, and I think I can even promise wireless internet access. :)

Whatta think?
