Books

This past weekend…

I had to choose a book to send to Laura for Create a Connection. No pressure, of course. Ahem. But how on earth do I choose just ONE?

Visit the blog of the person you will be sending to, send them an email or post a comment, get their address directly from them, and prepare to send the perfect, life-changing, inspirational book to them.

I also read this book.

The Top Ten: Writers Pick Their Favorite Books

I loved this book because it was a list of books by authors. All sorts of authors. And while a collective Top Top 10 List was developed. The entire list was made available by number of timestht title appeared on a list and you can browse each list by author.

This was the Top Top Ten List of All the Lists

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Hamlet by William Shakespeare
The Great Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald
In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust
The Stories of Anton Chekhov by Anton Chekhov
Middlemarch by George Eliot

So what’s MY top-ten? I browsed through the lists I have been keeping track of online to figure it out.

2007 Books Read (16) so far…

2006 Books Read (81)

2005 Books Read (59)

2004 Books Read (48)

204 books later I can take a quick look down the lists to find my favorites. But can I only name 10? And how do I pick only one/two/three to send to a new blog friend?

On my blogger profile and myspace profile I list these as my favorites

* The Passion
* Written on the Body
* Romeo and Juliet
* Taming of the Shrew
* Pride and Prejudice
* Persuasion
* Slaughterhouse Five
* Breakfast of Champions
* Handmaid’s Tale
* The Fountainhead
* Letters to a Young Poet
* All’s Fair In Love and War and Running for President

Written on the Body, Jeanette Winterson

Damn, that was hard! And I’m not even sure I agree with myself, still!

Nope. Not me.

That would explain it, but trust me, I’m not. So someone tell me why my body feels like it’s aged 20 years in the last two weeks? Mark’s answer? “I dunno have you been time traveling?” But trust me, that’s not it either. Ugh. Long week emotionally… AND my body hates me. In fairness, I treat it like shit. But is it all supposed to catch up with you at once? Feeling sick after eating bad for you food? Achy joints? Sandbags over my body forcing me to sleep in? And suddenly many, many silver hairs appearing?

Not pregnant. Not depressed.

Just feel, old. And no time machine to show for it.

What I think.

I did not watch the OSCARS this year, however I refreshed 1000 times in the *Fantasy Oscar* Piggyhawk league, which Erin/Rand pulled out a win for at the last few awards, kudos!

However, I do love to look at the pretty, pretty pictures, click to make images larger.

Look how perfect Little Miss Abigail looks.

And Ms. Jennifer Hudson. Check her out! I might be the only one, but I kinda liked the bolero. Jennifer is hands down stunning, and if that is considered *fat* (size 12) sign me up right now.

Cate? Looked like a statuette. That dress poured over her skin to sheer perfection, very classy.

Ditto for Helen Mirren. I love her hair. I love her makeup. I love the dress. Win. Win. Win.

Maggie’s dress is draw jaw-dropping from behind. Love the color against her skin. She is so darn pretty…

Dear God, Nicole Kidman? What’s happened to your once shining star? Why do you look so, so severe?

Still loving that hair. Aw, I love all things Reese.

Portia, scary skinny, but who can resist that smile?

Let the pregnancy questions begin…no really, did she announce and I haven’t heard?

Hello boobs. Gotta love a redhead in this green though.

Why the seafoam green Kate and Beyonce? Nice dresses, wrong colors. I mean Beyonce should be rocking the hell out of that dress, check out the slit!

In comparison, let’s look at Gwyneth. Perfect color but a dress that makes her look like a smooshed fan.

I’ve never been a fan of *crazy/sassy* Cameron so it comes to no surprise that I ask, what she was thinking with that white angular ensemble? Although I do like her *crazy/sassy* chestnut brown do.

Ugh. Just ugh. The hair makes her look old and the color doesn’t go with the I can’t believe I am wearing this made for 2007 80’s bridesmaid dress… Ugh.

And here’s another shining example of a bridesmaid don’t dress on a 20 something. She’s young…and this dress makes her look old. And unsavory.

What did you think?

I want a closer look at Tipper. Chocolate Brown with Olive Trim froma glance looked heavenly. And very save the earthy at the same time.

Have you browsed my WISTS list yet?

My sister-in-law introduced me to this site a while ago. By far the coolest wish wist list ever. WHY? Becauseall you have to do is set up the WIST bookmark and ANY AND EVERYTHING can be wish listed ALL IN ONE PLACE! You can WIST list items in private. You can WIST list items for other people (in private.) You can browse other WIST lists and find 1000 more cool things, trust me they keep great social tabs on people who like your stuff and vice versa. I love WISTS! Oh and you can add the widget to your blog so readers can see what your WISTS are, mine is over there on the left for those of you on an RSS reader. Happy WISTING!

And I thought I was a big Alex P. Keaton fan

My co-worker friend Rosing, who is also in the office, and therefore listening to showtunes, this afternoon JUST GOT A FREAKING EMAIL SENT TO HER telling her about the release of THIS DVD collection.

An e-mail sent to her! Damn girl! I’m impressed! I’m not worthy. I’m not worthy.

Aside: Anyone have an extra $30 to buy this for me? I will forward you my address. ;)

Aside Aside:

Me: “I wonder if Mark *Family Ties* loves me?”

Rosing: “I think he *showtunes* loves you before *Family Ties* loves you.”

Showtunes!

Hey, if your gonna be in the office on a Saturday you might as well live it up. Mmmm. Irish Cream Coffee and Showtunes! (And no one around the cubicles to hear me singing!) I know lots of people listen to music while at work, I am not one of them because I literally cannot stop myself from singing out loud. And no one needs to hear that, unless they pay for it. ;) Hope your Saturday is going well.
