My last day of work was Wednesday. Cheers!
One would think that a last day of work would involve, oh going out with friends for lunch and saying goodbye around the office. But twas the Wed before Thanksgiving and the few that remained in the building left early, (official early release) no time to say goodbye and get teary-eyed. So the fact that I worked up until 4:45 pm (and from 8:30 am-9:30 pm the night before) crossing off every last freaking thing on my to-do list had me quite peeved and EXTREMELY GLAD to be finished. And finding additional little random things to do on Wednesday when I came in the office really had me steaming as well. I already had a to-do list hardly able to complete. Crossing off 10 other items was not on my agenda. Grrrrr.
(Of course, my friends did take me to lunch at Chef’s…which was wonderful and very appreciated. And made me realize, while I will miss seeing them every day, they aren’t going anywhere…friends are friends. )
I truthfully have had it up to high heaven and working 12+ hour days for the last two weeks to make sure that everything was transitioned smoothly. Tis not my fault the Board voted to hire a Full Time Director and move my position to Part Time and had no transition in place because the Old Director got a new job, leaving me…waiting to hear about a full-time job a few weeks later. Not my fault. And yet I worked my ass off the last few weeks to try to make everything as neat as possible. Of course, I didn’t HAVE to do this, but c’mon, really? Of course I would try as hard as I could, I had to realize quickly that things wouldn’t get written down and organized, and long conversations with notetaking would have to do, but that’s all I had time for.
Ugh. I’m exhausted thinking about it all and soooooooooooooooooooooo ready to start a new adventure on Monday.
Wednesday really sucked. Really, really sucked. And as I look around my disaster ridden home that has things thrown all about and realize I had not made one homemade food item for Thanksgiving, I find myself just wanting to go back under the covers and sleep the chilly day away.
I should be cleaning and decorating for Christmas. (Never decorated for Fall this year!) Or blogging. Or reading. Or shopping. Or something!!! But I think my bed is calling me once again.
