I remember reading the entire Sweet Valley High series when I was young.
Imagine my, well, non surprise really when I read this on Gawker.
Random House Proudly Promoting Eating Disorders
Why on earth would Random House feel the need to change the sisters from the perfect size 6 to a PERFECT SIZE 4 and MAKE THIS THE FIRST BULLETPOINT IN THE PRESS RELEASE?
I say, boo hiss to you Random House. If you’re interested in buying the series, I’d say check out a second-hand shop or go online to Half.com

Horrifying. Years ago, I was dabbling in YA fiction and “auditioned” to be one of SVH writers. I’d never read the series and found it hard to slip into another author’s “voice, ” so didn’t make the cut. It was a little disappointing at the time– the money was lucrative for the length of the books– but now? Ugh. Wouldn’t want to be associated with that series.
Sad to say, it’s surprising they only took them down to a size 4 and not a size 0.
