I see…

I see Matt and Craig and David
I see Scotty and Derek and Mike
Republicans/Libertarians are you out there in the Buffalo Blog World?
I know of two women bloggers who do not speak of politics on their blogs who subscribe to this line of thinking. But I see no Karol’s out there in WNY Blogging/Twittering/Facebooking world.
Anyone else out there? I know, I know I’m a rare breed of person who can say she has voted for both a Clinton and a Bush in her lifetime…but c’mon people! The majority of what comes through my blog reader is exclusively LEFT or RIGHT or LIBERAL vs. CONSERVATIVE. Slam, bam. Praise, applaud.
How is it possible that I can be the only one out there who sees the merits (and the shit) in both tickets?
How on earth is anyone out there saying that Palin didn’t kick serious ass last night? Blinded by the partisan light???? I don’t get it, really. Biden is LAUDED as a pick who is going to be the attack dog because that’s what the VP’s “all about” and yet Palin (who is in the same position) gets up there and and…and?
It’s exhausting.
I can say that Barack Obama seriously kicked ass and not agree with everything he says.
I can say the same about Sarah Palin.
This election is making me reconsider my place in the world. I need to be paid to be one of those political talking head peeps. I can’t do it on my blog, I’m All Things. I only do it in the confines of the car and tv and in front of the computer out loud and in my head and over emails with friends and sometimes family and occasionaly in person. If I hear something come out of my mouth one more time only to be followed up seconds later by someone else (who is getting paid to say or write the same exact thing) I might explode. I need a new career. Even though I love the one I have.
Jennifer I know that there are more conservatives among us. I also know that they are often afraid to discuss their views even when out with a few close friends. Often their muted opinions are interpreted as centrist by the libs when in fact the conservatives are simply pragmatically appeasing intolerance. As you know, in Buffalo we have schools, colleges, and media outlets where liberalism has become institutionalized and self-perpetuating. Token conservatives, or conservatives who have managed to avoid detection within these institutions literally have to speak their views in whispers and in stairwells. I’ve personally lived this. So have the rest of us.
There are many of us out here, members of what I think of nationally as the “silenced majority”. We may appear to be centrists but in fact we are the silenced defenders of traditional American values. Muted, subjugated, and intimidated by this WNY dominant “progressive” culture. A misguided ideology that has been allowed to slowly and steadily evolve into what it has become- a religion of intolerance.
Please do not confuse my commentary with frustration or defeatism. Freedom has never been established or maintained anywhere on Earth without tremendous and continuous effort. I believe that this is so because while tyranny may be a natural state – freedom is a natural right.
…And Jennifer where else would we soldiers rather fight than right here for our own soil in Buffalo – truly the frontline in the war between the conservative and “progressive” ideologies.

I watched Palin’s speech under rather unique circumstances. I was in a club downtown, jukebox blaring and watching the HD TV while reading the closed caption scroll. Even without sound, my initial reaction was that Palin brutally and effectively tore Obama apart. You can read my whole appraisal on my blog.
It was nice to wakeup this morning and finding out my analysis of Palin’s performance more or less jibed with the media opinion.
Mike- been over there already this morning to browse.
I’m an anarchist, what can I say….
Of course you can do it on All Things Jennifer – it’s your blog. Write about whatever you want to.
I’m in.
Jen 14221 but you are one of my closeted two!
Jen14221,
I just knew it!
I also am one to say I voted for a 2 Bush’s and a Clinton. Palin was impressive, a star was born…but like every politician (Liberal and Conservative), needs to have her statements checked for validity and not taken at face value. FACT CHECK. After watching McCain last night, I have deep respect for him, am very impressed with his biography, but didn’t hear any beef in his speech. I was patiently waiting for him to address all of the issues with a respective course of action (specifically about the economy) but it never came. His only action plan was drilling for oil and his shared thoughts with Obama that the new industry around alternative fuels will create a new job sector. The whole convention was typical Karl Rove type politics. This GOP Convention was interesting though (“Is Romney that blind”, “Wow, Giuliani was on fire!”, “Palin is a force, watch out Biden!”) but The New York Times has a good article this morning titled: “McCain’s Strategy: Run as the Opposition”. A few months ago, the GOP lambasted Obama for “Change” and now they are preaching Change and Shake up Washington. Makes me want to pull my hair out! The next few months are going to be fun, I can’t wait for the debates!
Pauldub,
You would have loved my grandmother Emma.
McCain better bring the beef in the debates. I want details.
But I agree, this election has been funfunfun for the junkies. What will happen next?
