So, I am the proud owner of one BIG ASS VAN. (Thank you Aunt Ellen and Uncle Ken!)
My morning at the DVM went so smoothly I was certain that I landed in an alternate reality. Not a line at all. And the cashier/customer service rep was cute as a button and so pleasant. My paperwork went though without a slight hesitation, I paid, got the plates and registration and went on my way.
Less than 10 minutes total. Amazing!!! The power of positive thinking?
And the snow was gently falling outside. And the bus and trains were on time. And all was happy and good.
And even better? Festive festive!!! My license plate says ELF!
Ho ho ho!!!
Coming back from the DMV I decided to name my new van Gert. As in Gertrude.
Later that afternoon? I emailed my brother about picking up the van and said I was surprised at how everything fell in place so smoothly, that NEVER happens! (I also said I had to keep up with the Smiths of course since they went down the I-Cant-Believe-I’m-Driving-A-Mini-Van road. And yes I’m calling the vehicle a van instead of mini-van just like I called the SUV that belongs to my no-longer-significant other a truck.)
And Lil Brother in his infinite wisdom (no, really…not being snarky here) said…”it’s because you have a plan.”
And I said, “Um yeah…but that plan was to spend that money to go to Portugal with Mark this summer and to save up to get married not to repair a vehicle to get on the road.”
Funny how that works eh? So Good Ol Gert needed a last name and I chose, Lisbon. Hey I might not be traveling to Portugal anytime soon in this lifetime but I have wheels to get me to Barnes and Noble to read stories about other people traveling to Lisbon and buy CRANBERRY BLISS BARS. Wait!
(Of course this is the first thing I did with my new set of wheels, straight to B&N!)
Cranberry! My new red van is the color of those delicious little candied cranberries of bliss!
So, Gertrude Cranberry Lisbon it is.
Hey you never know when you will have to cart around 6 of your friends, right? I better start becoming friends with some musicians, I have a big ol’ ride to carry lots of equipment! (Or have many kids, and fast!) Considering my line of work the first scenario is much more likely to occur.
In other news? My very, very pretty new checks with my name solo arrived in the mail today. Bah.
Onward and upwards…

“She’s awesome!”
(Note the agreement on the gender of the vehicle as a result of the name. Tee-hee.)

It felt very odd driving around a big ol mini van this weekend, but I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. I really couldn’t even begin…
Thank you.
