Just a Small Town Girl…living in an Urban World

Country Roads, take me home. To the place, I belong.

Gosh I love the small town girl in me. I ache when I drive around home in Chautauqua County. Ache to have a life to share with a someone and a family that reminds me of the one I had growing up…the skinned knee, callous barefoot, pigtail wearing, daffodil picking, sunshine freckle faced, salamander catching, all day bike riding, electric blue slushie stained tongue childhood.

Of course, time changes locks on a lot of doors…

While driving around Amish Country (where my mom lives) I asked if we could stop somewhere to get water at the next place we find. 10-15 minutes later we arrive at a Shur-Fine.  City Life has spoiled me. Thirsty, now!

Oh the places I can WALK TO in just 10 little minutes in the City.

Country Roads

Of course, oh the places I could walk to in just 10 minutes…

Ying. Yang.

Maybe someday? Maybe not.

With friends like this, who needs a liver?

Baby, oh Baby!

me

This past Saturday I went home and met my new nephew Alex. :) So cuddly! And to think there was a time when I didn’t like wee babies!

It was difficult dragging myself and my mom out of the baby aisle.

Of course this probably has something to do with the fact that mama’s oldest daughter only has feline children, no grandbabies.

Presents (and baby!!!)

However, mama’s adopted daughter Linda Lu…well she’s having a baby! And we celebrated with a shower on Sunday. See the presents and the baby in the picture, I did that without cropping. How funny!

Presents

I could get into a lot of emotional sentiments here, but not today. Linda Lu is one of my oldest, dearest, closest friends and I’m overwhelmed with happiness thinking she’s gonna be a mama.

A wonderful weekend with the best of friends. Life is good.
