Happy Halloween

Halloween Happy Hour!

Last night I dressed up as Virginia. The “Catholic Girl Who Started Much Too Late.” Hardly a stretch of the imagination, I know.

Basically it was just an excuse to wear pigtails. 

And fabulous tights!

At some point in the evening the pretty blonde locks on “Killer Queen”

Ended up on me…not too shabby as a blonde, eh?

Halloween Donuts

Hostess Boxed Donuts ALWAYS remind me of Halloween. Along with Apple Cider. It must be all those years growing up in Sheridan, NY going to the Halloween Parade in the St. John Bosco Auditorium. And winning first prize silver dollars.

On my walk home from work on Friday I followed this dad and his two kids. The little girl kept getting sidetracked by the piles of crunchy leaves. I admit, I sort of wanted to join her…life is good.

Double Espresso Vodka

Mother of all that is good on earth…I discovered Double Espresso Vodka last night. (Thank you Leta!)

As Maggie said…you could drink this from a glass with a straw.

Danger. Mmmm. Delicious, delicious danger.

Know what’s delicious?

Made over the stovetop on a Football Sunday where the Bills ALMOST win—spiced rum apple cider with homemade (organic!) whipped creme and caramel and cinnamon.

Also…

Pretty much all of the desserts at Butterwood. See that cake 2nd from the left on the bottom row? Can you say Bailey’s Irish Cream Cale? Which unfortunately has to be purchased as an entire cake not by the slice…I need to find a comparable recipe, stat! Or just skip the cake and go straight for a big ol’ bottle of Bailey’s.

Turtle Cheesecake. Mmmm.

Coconut Cake. (Not quite the Pepperidge Farm cakes we had growing up!)

Delicious.

Bobby’s got a brand new car…(oh yeah!)

ANYHOW.

Tis not everyday a non-profit performing arts employee can afford to buy a BRAND NEW CAR. (Disclaimer: Must hear BRAND NEW CAR in the PRICE IS RIGHT announcer voice whenever you read it. Thank you.)

In fact, well, it’s very likely a non-profit performing arts employee can’t really afford to buy a BRAND NEW CAR however … Goodbye Earl!

Bobby was gracious enough to allow me to be his first…ride…in his BRAND NEW CAR! Of course we drove to pick up Maggie who he allowed to be his second…ride…in his BRAND NEW CAR!

See, isn’t Bobby a gentleman opening the door of his BRAND NEW CAR to allow Maggie to slide in the backseat?

Ahem.

Now Bobby has two brunette lovelies in his BRAND NEW CAR one in the front and one in the back and only the open road in front of him. Of course we WANTED to take a trip out to Earl’s to reminisce about the good times but since we were all working we decided to take a ride to South Buffalo for lunch instead.

Mostly because, let’s be honest…we all wanted to be in the car when he hit…um…

69 miles. Yes. We are children.

We ended up at the Blackthorne. Where I experienced for the very first time HUGE! GIANT TOTS!

Ok, this picture doesn’t nearly do the tots justice. Each tot on this plate equals about 4-6 regular sized tots. Not to mention these HUGE TOTS are stuffed with peppers and cheese.

Friends, it doesn’t get much better than HUGE GIANT TOTS STUFFED WITH CHEESE AND A BRAND NEW CAR!

Jealous? I can give you Bobby’s number…
