Cans and Cans and More Cans

Our animals are addicted to wet food. Mushy, smelly, sticky, icky, wet congealed cat and dog food. Addicted. We give Henri a big ass can o’ wet food every day. (Although I think we need to cut it to 1/2) and the we three kitties of Weber house receive anywhere from a 1/3rd of a can to a full can a day. That’s alotta cans. What on earth can we do with all those cans?

Oh wait! And then there’s the coffee cans! HWMMS insists on making a fill pot of coffee every morning even though every night I dump more than half the coffee down the drain. JUST USE ONE SCOOP INSTEAD OF TWO! Ack! Lately, I’ve been setting up the coffee at night because we are going through those giant cans o’ Folgers and Maxwell House like no one should be. GMA Baker is rolling over in her grave…I think that woman used two teaspoons of coffee per pot in her house. One can would last half a year. Merry Christmas GMA we bought you two cans of coffee for the year! When my brother and I would come over and make coffee at GMA’s she would be in the living room freaking out over the caffeine high just from the smell permeating the house of making a real pot of coffee for once.Yeah, I make my coffee strong or in this case, normal. Ha. (I miss her yelling over the coffee…)

Anyhow, my point is we are going though a lot of coffee cans. MORE CANS! Good thing we are getting MARRIED, eh? Look at all the cool things we can do with these cans! BTW THIS is the picture that made me start to think DAISY…

DAISIES! (My mama’s favorite flower AND the one she used at her wedding with my dad.) *sniff, sniff*

Cans! We can use them on the tables for flowers!

Perfect! I think we will use ribbons and fabric and twine and rope…

So simple, yet so country sweet! (red and white gingham)

Or scrapbook paper or fabric! How cute!

Perhaps we will staple gun them to a wall? (Er…glue gun? Velcro?)

Or hang them from the ceilings!

We can use the cans for silverware!

These cans require more work, but how freaking cute! (Now what could we use the cat food size ones for though?) Any ideas?

And of course there’s the ol’ tie the cans to the car gig….I love this. Chintzy and from a time long ago. Want.

Cheap! And I think chic! Yay cans for Weber Wedding Weekend!

P.S. If anyone knows where we can get a killer cool car like that—red? Let me know ASAP! Or else we might be driving away, I mean have someone else drive us away in some old Mustang HWMMS is looking to buy off of Craigslist. (I love you babe!)

I love the cans idea. And we rented a red Mustang for the weekend. On the way to the rehearsal dinner, I asked Tim to just keep driving until we hit Mexico. I figured no one would catch us in that baby.

You could always float a blossom or a candle in the cat food cans. or cut the bottom off too and use them as giant napkin rings.

But how do you get rid of the sharp edge (lip) from where you cut the lid off? I wish I lived closer so I could help decorate cans….feeling so crafty these days.

  4. K10- I had no idea you drove away in a Mustang. The more I learn the scarier our lives intertwine. :)

    KC-candles! GREAT IDEA!

Karen- I love you. I miss you. I wish you lived closer too, but at least we are on the same coast now!!! We can have a skype can decorating party in a few weeks. :) Also, the poptop lids cans don’t seem to have sharp edges….

I have a solution for the coffee can issue. Don’t buy coffee in a can. I will GIVE you bags of coffee. Seriously. How many you want? I have a couple bags on hand that are close to expiring, but expired Starbucks is still better than freshly canned Folgers. For real. Give me your address and I will DRIVE them out to you!

  6. Deedee says:

Oh, and I meant to say that beyond that I can provide a relatively steady flow of the stuff until such time that I finally snap and quit my job. :-)

  7. How on earth does Starbucks allow their coffee to almost expire??? Wow.

I have several bags of *good stuff* but its flavoured and HWMMS isn’t a fan of flavoured.

Wow, generous. I will have to remember to ask for coffee when we…finally get together for coffee. ;)

    Thanks DeeDee!
