Kielbasa was buy one get one free at Tops the other week, so HWMMS requested a dinner with some Kraut and Kielbasa. I’m not particularly a fan of sauerkraut but I am a fan of making my husband happy so I emptied the kraut in the crockpot, threw in sliced up polish sausage and…
Went to the internet to see if there was something else I could do to spice it up. And I found the above recipe on The Brown Eyed Baker blog. As soon as I started reading, I knew I had a winner. (And another blog to follow!)
Two major disclaimers right off the bat:
#1: I have never been a fan of kielbasa.
#2: I am even less of a fan of sauerkraut.
Yet, I am hopelessly in love with this recipe. It doesn’t make logical sense. And yet, the stars somehow aligned. Could it be that beer and brown sugar make all the difference? Given the magical powers of both, it’s certainly possible.
And really, tell me a recipe that brown sugar and beer WOULDN’T make better, right?
I let this simmer for hours…and in the end…I was very impressed. And yes, I enjoyed the kraut!
