Healthy Lunch Needs A Healthy Name

HWMMS: Wife! What’s for lunch?

Me: Green shakes and…

HWMMS: Egg mess! I love Jenny’s egg mess.

(Egg Mess: Scrambled eggs with whatever I find in the fridge and veggies. This time it was green beans, parsley, brown rice cooked in chicken broth.)

While the sentiment was loving, I feel like the name egg mess needs a little work…

Dragonfly Yoga Mat & Bag

Gaiam Printed Yoga Mat and Mat Bag Set – Dragonfly Pink

Yep, just bought this adorable new set. It’s so cute I HAVE to use it (right Marina?) I plan on attending Mind Body Flow Yoga M/W/F.

I’m insanely blessed that my Husband and I have this opportunity to take time off from our professional lives…I just can’t make excuses any longer.

MY FULL TIME JOB IS TO GET ME AND MY HUSBAND  HEALTHY. Period.

Immunity Soup!

My husband is in the middle of WEEK 5 of his bronchitis. Poor guy. So tonight, I decided to go all out in the IMMUNITY ENHANCING arena. I made a soup, and it shall be called Immunity Soup!

I have no idea how it tastes, but it smells out of this freaking world. (That is if you like garlic and onions.)

Recipe:

4 Cups Homemade Chicken Stock
2 Cups Water
1/2 Cup Minced Garlic
1/2 Cup Basil
1/8 Cup Thyme
1 Extra Large Chopped Onion
2 Cups of Spinach
2 Salmon Filets
Ground Black Pepper
Chopped Bay Leaves
Ground Flaxseed
Minced Ginger

Simmer till kitchen smells amazing and force Husband to drink until he feels better.

Mrs. Weber Immune System Building Plan

I’M SICK OF GETTING SICK!

Here’s the DAILY plan. Once I can you know, walk without being in pain and coughing!

  • 30 minutes of exercise. No. Excuses. Henri wants to take walks.
  • Drink half of body weight in water. I fell out of this after I stopped working.
  • Green Smoothies. Must get back in this habit, we were doing good!
  • Multivitamin and probiotic. Must not skip!
  • Herbal Tea with fresh lemon, raw honey and apple cider vinegar in the morning.
  • Sleep. Must get sleeping habits regulated again. Up until 3-4 am? BAD.

I’ve been good with these things in the past, and do them sporadically still (except exercise, not gonna lie I HATE THE HEAT and summer is bad for me in this regard. I’m shocked I’ve been able to tolerate hours of gardening this summer!) BUT I need to be CONSISTENTLY good with these things! —-WE need to be consistently good with these things. The Weber Family as a TEAM.

I’ve managed to do these good things already…

  • Cut out sugar from morning coffee (I drink with almond milk)
  • Eat only whole wheat pastas and breads.
  • Cut down on drinking alcohol.
  • Eliminated stress. Hello, no job!
  • Buy organic fruits and veggies most of the time.
  • Been going outdoors and playing in the dirt daily!
  • Make food at home more instead of going out.

I need to get healthy for MYSELF, for my HUSBAND and for our future babies we hope to have.

This our next big thing.

I think I might even make one of those pretty DAILY GOAL TRACKING charts to watch the progress. :)

Small steps.

“Small steps in the right direction make more sense than a thousand big ones in the wrong…”

This past week I’ve made a few healthy living changes.

1. COFFEE – I fill my travel mug with coffee and add a touch of milk, omitting the sugar. And this is the only coffee I have all day.

2. GREEN TEA/HERBAL TEA – I have had 3 cups of Plain Green Tea (sometimes a Plain Herbal Tea) throughout the afternoon/evening.

(This one is embarrassing to admit, but a HUGE step in the right direction.)

Trip to Wegmans. $65 and a tiny cart filled with good for us foods.

Cucumber. Celery. Seedless Green Grapes. Kale. White Apple Juice.

MY FIRST GREEN DRINK!

Deedee inspired me today. I’ve been wanting to try doing this for a long time, what better time than the present.

Not too bad actually, the cheap blender did ok. A little kaleish but…I can do this.

Healthy Living: Week? Falls Off The Wagon

One of my biggest challenges in life is GETTING BACK on the wagon of Healthy Living and not just saying SCREW IT. I’m gonna climb back on…but I need a few days to get my head straight and get back into routine mode.

Two Contributing Factors to Wagon Falling Off Of Ness:

1. THE HEAT.

I hate the heat more than most things in life. I’m miserable and grumpy and moody and depressive and hot and sticky and just can’t even consider walking home on the hot sidewalk. Hate. Hate. Hate. I know this isn’t a real excuse and I should just BUCK UP AND DEAL WITH IT but trust me…anyone who has seen me in these moods knows to leave me alone. Once the temperature is below 27C again, I’ll consider walking to and from work.

2. :(

I spent the last 10 days with He Who Makes Me Smile out in the country in a state of shock and sadness. I hardly realized what day it was let alone made sure I had enough water or veggies. Now I’m back at my apartment in the city (and miserable, I can’t even tell you how much I miss him…and *our* life during the week) and back at work and have to get my brain back in order.

Stay tuned…I’m not going anywhere, I’m just trying to remember to breathe and not bite anyone’s head off or cry at the drop of a hat. Once I get past those challenges, I’ll restart my Healthy Living adventure.
